Oil pump problems - operations resumed

0845 UT 8 May 2005

On 3rd May the scavenge pump started drawing abnormally high current, and operations were suspended until an inspection was carried out in order to protect the equipment. A (non-ideal) spare pump was fitted on 7th May, and operations resumed. The pump apparently functioned well last night, however there is still a risk of failure of the spare. A flight to site has been booked for 10/05/05 to fit a brand new replacement pump.
